Cheers Allan, I'm glad you liked it, lots of heart and soul and hours went into getting it just so.

And I agree, it is hard trying to hone your professional identity down to a single bite-sized chunk in the creative world.

Very impressive site. The "connectionist" concept is something I totally relate to; in fact I've had a hard time defining my personal "brand" as an art director, filmmaker, presenter, designer, photographer, and web developer. Sounds like you're embracing that broadness and making it a strength, a selling point.

I was impressed with just the site and the work; when I heard you sing in the first video... some people get all the talent. =)

Best wishes!

Hi there Nathan,

Well my idea of a "Connectionist" is really just an old idea with a new word attached. Basically, I intended it to denote someone who can approach a problem by drawing on relatively disparate fields of knowledge, and combine the strengths / techniques of these fields to formulate a novel solution. Which is pretty much how I think ideas having been evolving since cave-men thought up the wheel.

I coined the phrase for a professional context though, as part of Curriculum Vitae site I'm just finishing up (<a href="http://www.dylanbaskind.com" rel="nofollow">Dylan Baskind.com</a>).

What meaning did you have in mind for the term?

Dylan.

PS. Philosophically: I used to be a "connectionist" about the world, that is, an adamant dyed-in-the-wool determinist, a believer in predetermined & inevitable causal connection, but since investigating the micro-world of quantum phenomena I've been forced to change my tune!

I love the term 'Connectionist' it's great. My hobby is Philosophy and I've been trying to articulate my thoughts and feelings on how the world is connected.

I am aware that your term means something slightly different but I just want to ask exactly what you do as a 'coonectionist', can you give me an example or something?

Love the designs by the way, extremely sharp and eye catching!
